Essential Tips if You Are Travelling at
Christmas
If it is your turn to visit family this year you need to be
organized for Christmas AND organized for your trip. Think about
the following:
Get your gifts organized, wrapped, labelled and packed well in
advance. Be sure that any fragile gifts have additional packaging
to protect them. If you have too many gifts to carry or accommodate
in your car, pack them up into a crate and ship them to your
destination. It will be money well spent as you will not have to
worry about the.
If you are going to be mixing with different age groups do be
sure to plan activities that please everyone. Plan to allow older
family members some child-free time so they can have a snooze.
Remember your little ones are going to need an opportunity to run
around and let off steam too. Don't just expect everyone to get
along all of the time.....make contingency plans.
It may sound obvious, but do think about the weather -
especially if you are travelling to a different region. You may not
need a winter weight coat at home but you could need one at your
destination.
Leave yourself plenty of time. Don't allow yourself to run
late!! Christmas can be stressful enough without doing things that
add to stress levels.
Be prepared to help your host or hostess with catering. Offer to
travel with your own linens to reduce their workload. Take sleeping
bags for children so they can sleep snuggly when the beds are in
short supply!
Remember your pets. If you are travelling with animals they will
need to be considered - if you are leaving them home do be sure to
book your pet sitter or kennel space wll in advance. Christams is
one of the busiest times for these services.
It's all about planning and sticking to the plan. That way you
can enjoy Christmas in a relaxed and gracious manner!
